Resumen:
This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of interleukin-6 (IL-6) for the diagnosis of bacterial sepsis in critically ill adult patients. To explore the effect of different thresholds in the accuracy of IL-6 for the diagnosis of sepsis To determine whether the pathological source of sepsis (i.e. pneumonia, bacteraemia, urinary infections, among others) or other pre-specified sources have an influence on the accuracy of IL-6 as an diagnostic tool. © 2015 The Cochrane Collaboration.
